Adding Your Domain to Glimmernet’s Cloudflare Account

In some cases it makes more sense for Glimmernet to manage Cloudflare entirely on your behalf rather than granting access to your own account. This involves adding your domain to Glimmernet’s Cloudflare account for DNS management purposes only — you retain full ownership of your domain at all times.

Your domain ownership does not change

Adding your domain to Glimmernet’s Cloudflare account only changes where your DNS is managed — it does not affect who owns the domain. Your domain remains registered in your name at your registrar and you retain full ownership at all times.

As a general rule, you should never transfer ownership of a domain to a web developer, hosting company, or any third party. Whoever owns the domain controls it. If you have any concerns about domain ownership, contact us and we can help you verify.

What this means for you

  • Glimmernet handles all DNS, security, and performance configuration
  • You don’t need to create or maintain a Cloudflare account yourself
  • Changes can be made quickly without requiring your involvement
  • You can still request a transfer to your own Cloudflare account at any time by opening a support ticket

Nameservers

Once we have added your domain to our Cloudflare account, we will provide you with the two nameserver addresses specific to your domain. These will look something like adam.ns.cloudflare.com and vera.ns.cloudflare.com — the exact names vary by domain. You will then update these at your registrar, or we can do it on your behalf if you have already granted us delegate access.

See the relevant article for your registrar:

What to expect

Once the nameservers are updated, DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate fully across the internet, though in practice it is usually much faster. During this time your site will remain accessible — there is no downtime associated with a nameserver change in most cases.

Important note

If you currently have a Cloudflare account with custom settings, security rules, or page rules configured, please let your account representative know before we proceed. We will want to replicate those settings in our account before making the switch.
